Despite the ravaging pandemic menacing the business landscape, Vietnam’s economy seems to have found its silver linings as the country’s imports, exports, and trade surplus, have been on a warmly welcomed, steady climb.
Backtracking to two years ago, Vietnam boasted a trade surplus of $11.12 billion, beating the $9.94 billion forecast for Vietnam imports and exports in 2019. Amid the pandemic outburst in the subsequent year, the Vietnam export statistics in 2020 still managed to show signs of quality. The SEA country boasted an export turnovers record of approximately $281.5 billion in 2020, 6.5 percent year-on-year higher, while import turnovers mounted over $262.4 billion, 3.6 percent up, marking a trade surplus of $19.1 billion, the highest in the past five years.
The first four months of 2021’s exports are estimated to edge 2020 by 29.6 percent year-on-year to $104.9 billion, while imports likely increased 31.8 percent year-on-year to $103.3 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $1.6 billion for the first four months of 2021.
Generally speaking, it is a good sign to see the country is on a steady trading flow amid the pandemic. Within its exports and imports portfolio, it’s easy to see that a wide range of food and beverage (F&B) products have contributed to the country’s rising exports figures. Meanwhile, domestic consumers are in for a treat with imported specialties from Europe or the Americas.
Although the recent spikes in Vietnam’s infection rate bring about some palpable concerns, it is still a promising landscape to trade with Vietnamese importers and exporters. The country is still very much capable of supplying its foreign clients and trade partners with high-quality garments and F&B goods. Meanwhile, the consumers are poised to scale up their enjoyment of EU- or US-originated comestibles, making this category a considerable part of Vietnam import products.

VIEC—connecting factories and wholesalers directly between Vietnam and the Netherlands.
VIEC has been trying to add more variations to the ever-evolving list of Vietnam import products. With our extensive experience in exporting and importing goods, VIEC fully understands the difficulties of those who aim to bring European specialties to foreign markets in meeting general purchasing requirements or the lack of import-export entity to assist their operation.
We also believe that the supply chain from manufacturers to consumers could be shortened while getting more efficient. This optimization will empower the involved parties, bring more value and benefits to end-users. This belief has served as the pillar on which VIEC was founded in 2011.
What VIEC has been contributing to the Vietnam Imports and Exports landscape: The finest of European and American brands.
As a facilitator of Vietnam imports and exports, VIEC also sees more opportunities to increase the influx of goods from the Vietnamese market to the international landscape. On the other hand, the opportunity for overseas producers to trade their products with domestic Vietnamese enterprises and carve their ways into the Vietnamese consumers’ minds.
To offer even more agricultural specialties to consumers in Europe and Vietnam bilaterally, we are connecting businesses directly between Vietnam and the Netherlands. Thanks to this connection, the supply chain of these products will be in the most efficient way and therefore add the most value to the products themselves. Moreover, at the end of the road, the end-users will be able to make the most out of these advantages. For every type of product, from food and beverage to furniture and apparel, we become the linking bridge between the producers and their potential customers.
Knowing that the best is yet to come, we keep moving forward on this path to connect more businesses. VIEC has become the exclusive distributor for the Vietnamese market for several renowned companies such as Swinkels Family Brewers,; Créme de la Cream B.V., OGFC, AGI, Tago, Richard Tea, ELJO B.V., etc. bringing their products directly from factories to Vietnamese wholesalers. Nowadays, these products can be found in numerous supermarkets, convenience store shelves in the country. On the other hand, we are satisfied with setting down these first footprints of Vietnam in the Netherlands, with our recent project to help bring Vietnamese Lychee to European consumers as a standout example.
